Chrysler Repair: Radiator Fans switch for 2.5L V-6 in Sebring, coolant temperature sensor, radiator fans

Question

Answer
Hi Theresa,
I assume that you are talking about the two radiator fans under the hood. They are powered by a couple of fuses in the power box under the hood: #17 and #9 so check those are good. The "switch" for the fans are actually relays located in the same rectangular box under the hood: low speed and high speed fan relays, respectively. Those switches are controlled by the engine controller next door to the power box under the hood, and it uses the coolant temperature sensor to activate those relays. The fans should come on automatically when the temperature of the coolant hits about 215F for the low speed fan and 224F for the high speed fan. The sensor is located next to the neck/cap where you add coolant to the system. So check those fuses and then see if that helps. If not then the sensor may be faulty and if you have an ohmmmeter that can be checked.
