i was going down the road, made a stop in traffic when to take off and nothing U can put it in gear let out on clutch pedal and still nothing just engine revs could it be the clutch or Trans or something else.?

Hi Philip,
It could be the clutch plate has failed or is slipping totally, or it could be one of the drive shaft connections has failed (between the output of the transmission and the wheel on one side or the other). Have you had a chance to listen/look underneath to see if anything is turning at the output shafts of the trans, or a half shaft is disconnected? That you should be able to see a half shaft but with no connection to be turning on one side or the other if that were the case.
Does the gear shift feel normal, can you change the position of the shifter from one position to another without using the clutch or does it grind and resist shifting somewhat? Those are clues as to whether the input shaft of the trans is being driven by the engine or not, which would tell you about the clutch working or not. If the clutch is working to turn the gears in the trans, then an output shaft joint may have failed. Or a shaft inside the trans may have failed.  Tell me the year and engine if you write back?

Answer
If you can move the shifter from gear to gear, while the engine is running and without pushing the clutch pedal down to the floor which is what you would otherwise have to do were the clutch working, then the clutch is obviously not connecting the engine to the transmission. If instead when you tried shifting without the clutch in use and it made a grining noise then that would be normal and suggests that the clutch is ok. So that is my best suggestion for a test:
Start the engine, keep your foot off the clutch pedal and see if you can move the shifter from neutral to first, second, third, reverse without any gear noise or kickback on the shifter. If so then you will have to remove the transmission in any case and inspect the clutch plate/pressure plate/trans drive shaft/flywheel to see why these is no clutch action. That is the only way to repair such a problem.
If on the otherhand, you can't easily shift without using the clutch pedal, then that would suggest that the rotation of the engine is being transmitted thru the clutch to the trans gears and your problem is either inside the transmission or a drive shaft. I can't think of any other test you can do without either looking at the driveshafts or removing the transmission. No matter what, the transmission has to be removed unless a joint on one of the drive shafts has severed, in which case you have to replace that joint or the shaft with its joints.
