Answer
Hi Sherman,
I haven't had a question about the oil cap on the 3.3/3.5L engines before. If you are turning it counterclockwise and it is clicking rather than releasing I imagine that the the inner "ears" part of the cap is disconnecting from the exterior surface of the cap that you are turning by hand. You will need to remove the valve cover (the metal housing to which the cap is screwed into) to examine the situation from the underside and that way you will no doubt be able to release the cap (by pushing on the "ears" part and if necessary repair or replace the cap with one from the dealer or a used one from a wrecking yard vehicle. To remove the valve cover just remove the 8 screws that hold it in place and gently pry upward on the edge, uniformly. If the gasket comes off with the cover and without damage to its surface you may be able to successfully reuse it. If you want to be certain get a new valve cover gasket before you start the job and maybe get the replacement cap too.  Then apply the gasket to the cover and place the assembly back on the cylinder head. Tighten the 8 screws to about 9 foot-pounds, starting at the center and working back and forth diagonally toward the ends. Then re-check the perimeter a few days later, after driving the vehicle, for signs of any oil leaks. Retighten the screws if needed where you notice a leak.
