Chrysler Repair: trc off and abs light on, 1994 chrysler lhs, chrysler lhs

Question
my 1994 chrysler lhs on the message center the trac off and the abs light stays on while in gear as soon as you take it out of gear it goes out have any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Al,
I have the '94 shop manual which has about 29 pages on the abs system which I would be glad to copy and postal mail to you at my cost (7 cents/page plus postage). I believe that the more relevant observation is that made when the car is in gear. The abs light being on and the trac off lights both being 'on' indicates that because of the presence of a fault somewhere in the abs system the system has been disabled.
Fortunately the design of the system is fail-safe so that your brakes will work just as if you didn't have the abs feature. The only time to be concerned about safety is when the red brake warning lamp illuminates steadily.
There are self-diagnostic capabilities in the abs controller so you could have the memory of that unit readout at a dealer to learn what may be wrong with it.
Let me know if you want the pages from the shop manual.
