Chrysler Repair: Timing marks 3.0 v-6, dowel pin, chrysler vehicles

Question
The damper on this engine has 2 marks (Slots) do I use the one on the right or left? Also I am not sure I am looking at the right timing mark on the (Front) bank of the camshaft sprocket. It seems to be a scrape in the metal? Is that right?

Answer
The damper on 3.0L v6 should be grooved to match a key-way.

The front bank mark is not much more than a single line.

Don't swap the washers around for the camgear bolts either.  Make sure they match the bolt on one side and the gear on the other.  You will see they are dished ever so slightly which can actually allow the dowel pin to shear in the event they are installed wrong.

I'm not sure I'm with you on the damper though because all of the mitsu 3.0L's I've dealt with (both on the chrysler vehicles and the mitsu's) have all been a one way-fit only.
