Chrysler Repair: RE:1994 Lebaron Freeze Plugs, freeze plugs, o ring

Question
Thanks...I do have to remove the intake after the water pump has been removed or should it just pull out ? I replaced the water pump and got another leak and now taking it back apart to fix the pipe. Thanks

Answer
Hi James,
I haven't personally worked on this engine but the manual shows there to be an o-ring seal at the front end of the pipe where is enters the water pump and also a small pipe for a by-pass hose. Maybe that o-ring is where the leak is occuring if you didn't use a new one. The other end of the pipe has a bracket to attach to the cylinder head at the rear. And then another o-ring for the second pipe that has a bracket to attach to the trans. It doesn't say whether you have to remove the intake to pull the pipe out from the waterpump and out the rear of the engine. But I don't see any harm in trying, there are no clamps shown at the o-rings. I would lube the new o-ring so it can slide into the water pump inlet. If it won't release then I guess you have to remove the intake manifold. Let me know what you learn so I can pass along the info. Thanks
