Chrysler Repair: 01 Town and Country drivers window, window mechanisms, plymouth van

Question
On our 2001 T&C we have a problem that has gotten progressively worse.  At first it was only an occasional problem, but now it is constant.  The driver's electric window will go down fine, but when we go to put it up, it barely moves and only travels maybe an inch.  After the car has been off for several hours, we may get another inch of travel, sometimes taking days to get the window back up.  A friend has a Plymouth van with the same problem, so I assume that it is rather common.

Answer
Hi Dave,
I don't have personal experience with the power window mechanisms but I suspect the problem is mechanical involving the cables between the motor and the lift mechanism. My resources are either the '93 shop manual (5 pages, or the 96-99 Haynes van manual (about 4 pages) and if you would like I could copy them and postal mail them to you so if you were inclined to repair it yourself you might be able to do it. I doubt it is electrical because the motor tried to lift the window, and thus I think you will neet to take off the panel of the door to get to the mechanism.
