Chrysler Repair: Interior Lights, compass computer, condorde

Question
I have a 2002 Chrysler Condorde LXi and need to change one of the bulbs in the overhead computer/compass area.  This is one of two lights that turn on by actually pushing on the lens.  There is a screw on the front side of the trim piece that I took loose but can't get the rear part to come out so I can change the bad bulb.  I was afraid to just pull on it for fear of breaking something.

Answer
Hi Steve,
I haven't looked at the 2002 unit, but a manual that I have for 1994 speaks of the same sort of overhead compass/computer lamp pairs that are turned on and off by pushing on the lens. What that manual shows is that on one of the four sides of the lens there is an indentation into which you are instructed to insert a knife blade or straight edge screw driver, then pry to the side to lift that edge out slightly and swing down as it unhooks from the housing edge. That gives you access to the bulb. Just take it easy, look for an indentation and don't force anything. I suspect your lens is set up to be removed similarly to the '94 unit lens.
