Hi Tim,
I am unfamiliar with the term "dorex". Can you tell me more about a dorex cooling system and how it differs from other cooling systems?

Answer
Hi Tim,
If the car manufacturer recommended using Dexcool then I would use Dexcool. Usually such cars have several aluminum components in the cooling system (cylinder head, radiator, water pump, etc.) and so they may have a greater likelihood of suffering from corrosion due to the presence of iron in the engine block. Dissimilar metals can intereact via the coolant and corrode.
I don't think there is any reason not to use it in cars that don't have that problem. It costs more per gallon but it lasts longer as far as corrosion resistance is concerned, compared to the normal green antifreeze. I use the dexcool in my '89 Chrysler because it has an aluminum/plastic radiator.
