Classic/Antique Car Repair: Remy Delco Car Horns, part number application to vehicle type

Question
I recently bought two car horns at an estate auction. I am trying to determine the Make/Model car that they are for and the year they were made. The first I think is for a Corvette 56-60 but not sure.

One has a model number 764 (12 volt) and a relay is attached that is stamped 781.
The other has a model number 763.
Do you have any idea what these are for? THANKS!

Answer
Hello Brandon,

This is a very specific question requiring detailed restoration knowledge of the particular car involved. If you think the horn belongs to a Corvette, take this question to one of the several Corvette restorer clubs out there like the NCRS (National Corvette Restorers Club) or one of the aftermarket parts houses that cater to the Corvette restoration market.

One thing is for sure, if the part actually is Corvette, there are people out there that know this information down to the component.

A final suggestion if all else fails, check a Hollander Parts interchange manual. This publication provides parts application to car model going back at least 50 years.

Best of luck,

Bob
