Classic/Antique Car Repair: sho9ck fluid, hemmings motor news, car shocks

what kind of hydraulic fluid do I need for the shocks on my 1948 chev aero-sedan. where can I get it. and  can I buy the parts to fix the leak ?

My stock answer for “where can I find….” Is to latch on to a copy of Hemmings Motor News, the old car hobbies classified bible. There are many companies that supply parts for old cars and you will find them in Hemmings. www.hemmings.com. As for the fluid I use hydraulic jack oil in my old car shocks and you can get that at most auto parts stores. The repair of shocks hydraulic shocks is a real project and requires a heavy press and welding equipment.
