Classic/Antique Car Repair: adjust brakes, chevy bel air, rear brakes

Question
How do I adjust the brakes on my 1953 Chevy Bel Air. The brake pads good.

Answer
There should be two slots at the top of the backing plate on either side of the wheel cylinder mount. To adjust the brakes use a brake adjusting tool and turn the adjusters until the wheel will just not move. And then back the adjuster off 14 clicks, you will hear the adjuster clicking against it's spring loaded retainer inside the wheel. The wheel should spin freely and the brakes should then be adjusted. On the rear brakes make sure that the e brake cable is all the way released. If it is sticking then the adjustment will be effected.
