Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1964 Chevrolet Truck carb/ignition problems, chev truck, overflow tube

Question
I have a 1964 Chev truck with a 292. It has a 1 bbl Rochester carb with a manual choke. I recently put a rebuild kit in the carb, but I can't get it to stop leaking gas. The four screws on top are tight, but it still seeps gas from the top piece and the middle(fuel bowl) piece. Is there any tricks or would it be worth it to buy a rebuilt carb?

Also I just did a tune up, including new plugs, cap, rotor, condenser, and points. What should I set the dwell angle too?

Answer
It sounds like the float is too high. Even with no gasket, gas should not come out the top. I have actually ran that model without the top on (briefly).

That is probably all that is wrong and no need to buy anything else. Simply adjust float until gas level is 3/8" from top of bowl or overflow tube if it has one.
