Classic/Antique Car Repair: 54 Dodge Hemi wont turn over., dodge hemi, volt battery

Question
Hello, I have a '54 Coronet with the V-8 Hemi that I would drive 3 or 4 times a year. The last time I went to start the car, the motor would not turn over. The 6 volt battery was fully charged and it sounded like the starter was trying to engage and turn and the flashing red hand brake engaged light dimmed considerably but no cranking of the engine. My fears are that the motor may have seized or something. Is there some way to try and check this? Thanks in advance.

Answer
It is possible that the engine has seized, but before you call the undertaker, tell me this:

When you first tried to start it, did it appear to begin to turn, even a tiny bit?

If so, you may have a hydraulic lock situation, which can be very dangerous if you try to crank it again.

So don't do anything until you hear from me again, after you answer my question.

Post a "follow up" question to me with your answer, and I'll tell you what the next step is.  Disconnect the battery and leave it that way for now.
