Classic/Antique Car Repair: 350 Engine ok, maybe?, radiator flush, nuts and bolts

Question
I bought a chevrolet pick up about a month back that needs some help. The previous owner removed the valve covers, throttle body, disconnected the exhaust manifolds, removed everything on the accessory drive, and removed the spark plugs. The truck sat for about a year in this condition, with the hood closed of course, so very little if any moisture got under the hood. What is the likelihood that the motor would be ok to put back together to run? I will do a compression test first and clean it up. The man I bought it from said he took it apart because it had reached the 200,000 mile mark. I have never really messed with an engine that has set up without any sparkplugs in it for so long. Any information would help.
Thanks,
Scott Wynn

Answer
SCOTT- 200,000 wow well it is a good first re-builder if you wish to go that way, or remove all plugs, shoot some wd-40 in each hole, also in the intake hole, put liquid wrench on all nuts and bolts and on the ex. system bolts. if the distributor. was not removed it should  go back and replace all parts, lube up any sticking or rusted parts,  you could buy a rebuilt crate motor. or rebuild your own, but if its the first you will have to Ohave a good mech. with you as it is not that easy.  but just put it all back and get all new gaskets, oil and filter and add new coolant prior to a good radiator flush.  if the drive belt or distributor were never removed it should start up, I do not know what type of power you will have. OK and good luck get back any time you need help
