Classic/Antique Car Repair: Starting problems, 1968 camaro, selonoid

Question
There is no fusible link, I tried 4 new batteries getting q larger capacity with each one. This is the second starter, what is driving me nuts is that it will start with the boost as I said, but  nothing happens if you turn the key without the boost. If something was not connected or bad (solenoid or the wiring etc.) why would it just start with the boost and not without the boost?
    Thanks,          Hank

Question -
1968 Camaro with a 350 V-8:
New battery, cables, alternator, voltage regulator,starter, ignition switch and ground cable from starter to frame.
Car won't turn over unless I hook up a booster. Then it turns over and starts as it should without the boost. Help I am at my wits end. What else could be wrong? Battery has 13.4 volts, alternator is putting out 14.6 volts. But when you turn the key it's as if there was no battery, no sound nothing. The oil light and the alternator light go on when you turn the key but no noise from the starter, Thanks for any suggestions.

 Hank ;
  HI  do you have a fuseable link on it ? I would also  just to rule it out , try a differnt battery. see if it will start with a differnt battery in it , and if it is still not starting I would say that the selonoid  is bad.

Answer
Hank ;
   OK  if you tried a few batteries , etc. and still no good , I would trace the pos. wire and look for any cuts or shorts  and how is the ing. switch. did you try to hot wire it and bypass the switch. it sounds as if something is not making full conection and when you do use 2 batteries there is enough power so it will jump pass what ever is causing the trouble. Or there could be a wire loose or not hooked up right. it is starting with the two batteries because what ever is causing the trouble will arc when the 2 batt. are hooked up so something is not connected or loose or bad.
I still would check the selonoid out.
