Classic/Antique Car Repair: series2 OTS body jig, body panels, bulkhead

Question
Hi,
I am looking to replace floors, inner and outer sills etc on my 1970 S2 roadster. Do you have any drawings/measurements or tips on how to build a body jig?

Many thanks,
Matt.

Answer
Would not recommend building a jig for only one vehicle.

Steering geometry is difficult yet vitally important to maintain, and that will not emsure body panels are correctly fitted. Incorrect alignment of bulkhead to floors will create major problems fitting doors/glass and hood, as well as making bonnet fitment difficult.

Get the workshop manual if you want to proceed.

A diagram and most measurements are included, but be warned, if you have never tackled a job like this before, you are likely to make serious mistakes that will ruin the restoration.

My recommendation?

Consider getting it done by people who have real experience in re-building E Types, and plenty of them...!

But be sure to check their work and their jigging facilities.
