Classic/Antique Car Repair: Getting an Impala 350 to run again, wd 40, dry climate

Question
Roger:

In 1987 I put a '76 Impala with unmodified factory 350 into storage in a dry climate.  It has 89,000 original miles.  I last started it in 1989.  Family members kept it running for a few more years.  The trans. seals gave out after about three years.  This summer I am going to try to at least get it started.

I realize that there are many variables involved with respect to the  engine, but can you offer any suggestions for getting it running again?

Thanks!

Sean S.

Answer
First how many miles are on the engine.
is it worth it?
Now the first thing is to remove the spark plugs one at a time if you do not know the fireing order  .put some lite
oil in each cyld.and also put in some wd-40 or some type of penatrating oil apx 1 oz   total in each. let it sit for as long as you can note after it has been in for apx. 4 -5 days try to hand turn the engine 180 / one half turn so the oil will get into every place ok.
than you will have to check all belts and hoses  repair what is needed or use what you have as you do not want to spend a lot of cash if it will not run. you will have to get new plugs or clean and try the old plugs check the cap/rotor/wires , etc. than when you have all of that replaced or cleaned you must change that oil and filter. also get some carbarator cleaner and clean up the carb all over. check everything. than when you try to get it going spray starting fluid in the carb  but first  check gas line and be shure it is clean and free of rust and dirt. you can keep in touch with me when you start working on it ok I will help as much as I can  ok
roger ps . was the car left indoors or out ?
