Question I need a diagram on the wiper moter. I got a replacement but am testing a used moter becouse the car had the wires cut and i dont know how the moter is suposed to be wired. I dont want to burn the new one. When i connect to the batery directly the wire gets very hot but running the moter without hooking it up it runs ok, but will run in oposite directions between hi and lo. the manual shows the internals but the coler code is not matching. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!! 69 camaro.
AnswerI'm sorry that I do not have a wiring diagram for your car. If you are going to be keeping this car, you should get a factory service "Shop" manual for the car, it will have all this information. You can find these at large city librarys, or you can buy one from one of the literature dealers like Ed Faxon of Riverside CA, or you can watch eBay for one to come up on auction.
In the meantime, if you match the wires by color and size with your old one, and ground the new motor to the body, it should work fine. If the colors don't match, or if it doesn't work right, you've either got the wrong motor or the switch is screwed up.
Reversing direction is correct when the motor goes to the park position - that is the way it parks, namely reversing direction, which makes the linkage park the blades.
However, something getting hot does not sound right, unless you were running at low speeds, which would make the voltage dropping resistor heat up.
Just getting the motor from another 69 Camaro won't cut it in this case, there were more than one motor available in those years, due to some being continuously variable, some having 1 speed and some 2 speed, and some being for cars that parked the blades below the hood when off. You must have the right motor for your car. The numbers and the wire colors and size have to match or it isn't going to work right.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I think you've got the wrong motor.
The right way to fix this is to get the shop manual and dope it out wire by wire.
