Dodge Repair: 1999 dodge blower motor/resistor, blower motor resistor, advanced auto parts

Question
QUESTION: Kevin, I talked with my mechanic a few minutes ago, ask him if he had tried a new resistor he said... no!  Because, it needs a new blower motor and resistor.

That is part of what he needs to know...where is the resistor?  What do you remove to get to it?  And...how to remove the dash to get into the blower motor to remove it?

I was under the assumption that he thought...the resistor was  at, or near the blower motor, that's why he needed to remove the dash, to replace resistor and motor at the same time.

If in your professional opinion, it's "only" the resistor that needs to be replaced, I know you will say so.  But is it possible, I could know that today?  The mechanic is picking the truck up tomorrow, or he said he was.

I had been unsuccessfully trying to get the information on the, "How To", so he could remove/replace, with good results.  Until, you offered kindly to do it. I was surprised, because no one wanted to help with that, they seem to have varied reasons not to and maybe, understandably so.  If your offer still stands I really would like to have the....How to. Realizing too, you said it would take several days to do it...that's all right, mechanic can wait, I will insist, until I receive it.

One last thing, the dealer on a call to them yesterday told me, I might better replace the heater core also....at their price of 320.00 for a core...I guess they would!  They went from 700.00 to over 15000.00 and upward, in a short breath, to do it all, for me...how very nice of them.

If you need any more info, please let me know, I will be around all day.  Thank you so much.
Linda

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Kevin, I was  not able to physically remove the resistor myself, although I did put a very good effort into it. I did locate it with your pic and instructions on, how to.

My mechanic picked the truck up this morning, along with your how to info. He just called to let me know the new resistor is in the truck, but...it still doesn't work!  He said the connector and wire, was fine after he pulled the resistor out.

I sure could use your advise again.  Do you think its the relay?  I ask the mechanic to check the fuses, and to wait until I could contact you.  He is bitting at the bit to, remove the dash.  If he had the how to, I know he would.  What do I do?

Where is the relay?  He is wanting me to get the How To, on removal of the dash!

One last thing, I drove it about 50 miles yesteray, cold air was coming out of the vents, although very minimal, it showed me it was trying. There didn't seem to be hardly any blower action pushing the air out. Cold air did stop coming out, when I stopped at lights, but re-started when car was in motion.

If your able to give me info, I will be forever grateful to you.  Mechanic is sitting on my truck, I feel helpless, don't know what to do.
Thank you for all your help, I really do appreciate it.
Linda
