Dodge Repair: Alternator and Stalling problem, ram pickup truck, air plugs

Hi i drive a 2004 dodge 1500 ram pickup truck with 5.7L V8 and my alternator is knocking, what is the cause of this and should i get it fixed? the engine light is not ON so im not sure if its a major problem. another question is why does my truck stall-out? it hesitates sometimes and feels like its dragging or pulling all the time. is it the fuel pump? or do i just need a new fuel filter? again i am not sure if this is a major problem because my engine light hasn't come on.

the bearing could possible be locking up.
fuel pump  no  that would be a no start after long drives  not a stall
fuel filter is built into the fuel pump.
Stalling could be many things  lack of air,plugs   things like that   have u done any maintainable things  to this truck?
