Eagle Repair: ignition switch problem, eagle vision esi, starter solenoid

Question
I have a 95 Eagle Vision ESI that sometimes acts as if the battery were nearly dead when I crank it. But if I return the key to the off position and try several times, the car will start just fine. I can replace the entire sterring wheel assembly (from a salvage yard) for $75. Is that what you would suggest, or should I check the starter relay or selonoid first. Also, if I do replace the entire steering column, are there any special tools or proceedures I should observe, other than opening the battery circuit.

Answer
WHY ?, Would you want to replace the steering column for this type of fault ?.

the miost common problems are:

a weak cell in the battery. Needs to be tested.

an intermittent fault in the starter. Needs to be tested.

A fault in the starter solenoid.

Internal unseen from the outside corrosion of the battery cables.

If you remove the battery and starter from the vehicle, Most larger auto parts stores will test them for free. I would also suggest that you purchase BOTH new battery cables.
