Ford Repair: cruise control, control question, cruise control

Question
QUESTION: the cruise control on my 2002 f150 will not set at speeds above 45 miles per hour. sometimes i can get it to set at speeds between 35 and 45 miles per hour. i had the recall down many years ago.

when i am trying to set at higher speeds, the cruise light on dash will flash each time i hit the set accel button.

any ideas?

ANSWER: Sorry to take so long to get to this, first time i've ever heard of it. so, as long as you are below 45 mph it works ???  do you have a check engine light or abs light staying on ?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: That is correct, I can set it at 35 and 45 mph with no problem but at 55 mph or higher it will not work.
There is no check engine or abs light on.

Just a side note I replaced my 6 year old battery a couple of days ago and the cruise control worked fine at all speeds for about three days, then starting acting up again. It went right back to setting at speeds between 35 and 45 mph but not at 55 mph or above. I have no idea what is wrong or going on. Any ideas??

Answer
you are going have to install a volt meter and monitor vehicle battery voltage at the higher speeds. it's entirely possible you are having a charging system concern. at the higher speeds, the battery voltage is dropping enough to turn the cruise control off
