Ford Repair: Brake Lights not working on my Ford Ranger, turn signal switch, haynes manual

Question
I have a 1999 Ford Ranger extended cab with a 4L V6 Automatic. Non of my brake lights work. I checked the two fuses (7.5A and 15A) I checked one bulb it was Ok. I took the brake switch out. It seemed OK. I checked the voltages at the brake switch connector and they matched the  circuit diagram in the Haynes manual that I have. I shorted the two terminals on the brake switch connector that I thought controlled the lights and that did not bring the lights on. The signal lights work, and the tail lights work. I am near a loss on what to check next. The upper light on the back of the cab does not work either. Battery voltage at the brake switch connector is good.
My manual shows the brake switch to be a single pole normally open switch but when I took the switch apart to clean the contacts there were two switch points. (5 terminals) two are the single pole normally open, and there is another set of contacts normally closed to one contact and switches over to close two an other contact when the brake is pushed. I am not sure what this other set of contacts does, and I do not see that in my manual.
Any suggestions on what my problem might be and what I should check next would be very much appreciated.

Answer
make sure red and green wire at brake switch does not have a break in it very common brake lights also go thru turn signal switch-make sure wires are not pulling out of switch if you have a tilt wheel-if contacts were burnt enough to be cleaned replace switch for future reference.
