Ford Repair: Reseting Timing, lincoln town car, one cylinder

Hi James,
On the 1990 Lincoln Town Car, which is the #1 cylinder, and what is the proper procedure for getting the timing right?

The number one cylinder is the first on the driver's side.To access the base timing,you will need to remove the little bypass plug.It is located    very close to the distributor.It's a square plug the plugs right into the wiring harness.You can't miss it.
