Ford Repair: cracked cyc head, suzuki sidekick, universal issue

Question
i have a suzuki sidekick, 1995 with engine problems.  mechanic said i need a new radiator and i also have a cracked cyc head.  cannot afford to get both fixed and he will not work with me.  need to get back to work -- already lost one week.  question is:  if i get the radiator problem fixed only --- if i am very careful and slow driving for the next 3-4 weeks, will i be ok.  mechanic said the radiator caused the problems with overheating, etc.  i have already asked him the same question but i wanted to get another viewpoint.

Either way you go, it's a gamble.  Fix the head and not the radiator and you risk another cracked head.  Fix the radiator and not the head and you're looking at some possible major engine damage depending on where the crack is located.  I should also point out here that Suzukis are far, far off from my specialty but I'm hoping this is a universal issue.  If it were me I would replace the head and drive around with the heat on full blast until you get the radiator fixed.  Hopefully that would keep the temps down low enough to safeguard the head from cracks.  But that's what I'd do.  Like I said, either way you go you're facing a gamble.  Hope this helps.
