Ford Repair: 96 Ford Taurus, cv shaft, ford taurus

Question
Hi Jeff,

We are having a squealing and grinding on and off in our car. We just changed brakes( they were bled), fluids are good. He changed the caliper(not sure on spelling) and the wheel bearing on the side where the noise is coming from. Now the ABS light is on as well.
We bought this car with a bad transmission and put a new one in, so we are not aware of any brake problems before this. Do you have any suggestions as to what else it may be?
Any help is greatly appriciated.

                             Thank-You

Answer
Hi Sandra,
If you have changed all that then the only thing left is the CV shaft on the noisey side. That may be why the ABS light is on. There is a ring on the outer CV joint that sends a signal to the ABS sensor. If it is broken then the light will come on. Replace the "CV half-shaft" and you should be OK.
GOOD LUCK

Jeff
