Ford Repair: emmisions question (dpfe related), taurus 3, egr tube

I have a 96 taurus 3.0 (U) that has an SES light on.  I scanned it and found code p1406. so to be on the safe side i replaced the egr, tube, hoses and DPFE.  there were no obstructioins visible while apart in the egr system yet after repair the light came right back on (after being cleared within 10 miles). do you have any ideas?

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
 Have you run a key on engine running test on the vehicle and checked for a vac signal to the EGR valve? If not, try it and if there isn't a signal, look for a vac problem.
