Ford Repair: 89 ford probe wont start, fuel pump relay, ford probe

Question
The other day i went out and started my car i had a little trouble with the left flip up light. i went to help it the rest of the way up and my car suddenly chugged then died. I went to start it up and it just wouldn't turn over. I towed it to my house and ordered a new disributor. I changed the distributor and got the same thing the starting noise but it just wouldn't turn over. My father told me to check the fuses and i came across a burnt out engine fuse. I changed the fuse and the car satrted without a problem but it only ran for 30 seconds or so, then the fuse blew again. I replaced the same fuse the car started again and died but this time the fuse didn't look to be blown. The 15A engine fuse is for the following components: Main Relay no.1 & 2, Fuel Pump Relay, EL Control Unit and the Ignition relay. I was wondering if it is one of these components that is making my car sick and needs replacing. If there is any information that you could give me it would be much appeciated.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I really can't help you much except to tell you that you NEED TO ISOLATE the cause of the 15amp fuse blowing.
What I would do is pull the relays out (start with the fuel one) and then install the 15A fuse. Turn the key on and see if it blows.......if it does, I would look at replacing the fuel pump. If not, go to the next relay and try the same thing. Do this until you find the fault.
Hope this helps,
Erik
