Ford Repair: Bronco stalling, egr valve position, egr valve position sensor

Question
Hi, I own a 1994 full size Bronco with the 5.0 litre engine and the E40D transmission. On friday the bronco ran great. Saturday I noticed it had a rough idle, but it smoothed out at higher rpm's. On sunday the vehicle would start but stall immediately. It would run only with my foot on the gas. I scanned for codes and found code #334 which is the EGR valve position sensor. The signal voltage is higher than expected (closed valve position). I used a voltmeter and found 4.5 volts. The haynes manual says about 5.0 volts is correct. The egr valve is not that old along with the egr position sensor. I put in the old egr valve and sensor and the truck would still not run. I also put in an idle control valve 3 months ago, but I swapped it out and put the old one in and it still stalls. I do not think this is my problem. My question is could a problem with the egr system keep the engine from running? It sounds more like a fuel pump or regulator but I don't know. I can hear the fuel pump running in the gas tank. The plugs, cap, rotor, coil, wires, and fuel filter are all 1 year old. I do not know what to do next. It trys to run but something is stalling it. Please help I would appreciate it greatly.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Yes, the EGR can stall an engine and also create a high/rough idle, as well as keep it from starting.
Have you checked to see if the EGR valve was in a stuck open position? Also, check to see IF it is getting a vac signal from the vac controller during a key on engine running test.
As far as the fuel pressure goes, the spec I use is 41 psi with the key one engine off or engine running at idle, and 61psi with the regulator unplugged from the vac source.
Hope this helps,
Erik
