Ford Repair: Starter issue?, ford f 150, electrical works

Question
Vehicle: 1994 Ford F-150 XLT, 5.0, 4wd, Manual Transmission.  Purchased used in 1998.  In 2000, starter failed.  Including replacing that one, it has gone through two more.

This morning I went out to start the truck.  For a split second it sounded fine then just cold dead.  I knew what it was immediately, but tried turning again.  Nothing.  I don't recall a click or anything.  Everything electrical works fine and has plenty of power.  Battery is 18 months old.  This is the 3rd starter since 2000.  Two were refurbished, the latest is brand new.  I can't accept that it's the starter more then it's something causing the starter to fail or short out.  Obviously without getting it on diagnostics, what do you think it might be?

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
What I would suggest is that you check for power at the trigger wire on the starter and also at the main post on the starter. Be sure that there is 12v going to the trigger wire when cranking the engine, and that the starter has 12v at the main post, at all times. IF there is no power at either of the two points, I'll guide you back from there, but I really think you are having bad luck with the starters.
Hope this helps,
Erik
