Ford Repair: seatbelt wont retract, ford windstar, middle seat

Question
We have a 98 ford windstar 3.0...the seatbelt on the middle seat in the middle won't retract back in. It is stuck in the out position but not enough for someone to use it. IT was holding a booster seat for a long time. It went back in a little but now won't do anything. Any thoughts on how to release it.

Answer
Hi Karen,
You can try with a small screwdriver to get whatever is stuck in the belt out. You may try snapping it back and forth rear hard to free it up. If it doesn't then it will need to be replaced. Seatbelts are covered by warrantee for 5 years/50k miles. You are probably just out of range. You can try a junk yard for a used one if you have the tools to put it in yourself.
