Honda Repair: 2000 Honda Civic stalls at idle, second tank, auto parts store

Question
I have a 2000 Honda Civic that when cold idles fine. After warming up it will stall. If I am traveling in the city and come to a traffic light the car will shut off when I come to a complete stop. It started happening yesterday on the way home from work, first the check engine light came on then the stalling started at idle rpm range. I had added some injector cleaner to the gas tank two weeks prior to this and am on my second tank of fuel since then.

I had seen the response to changing the fuel filter but there wasn't a reply if that was the cause. If I were to increase the idle the check engine light would still remain illuminated correct?

Any suggestions with instructions to perform, to include part numbers, would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

Answer
Mike:
You may want to replace the fuel filter, usually a good idea and relatively inexpensive. I would think the check engine light would remain lit as there is something causing the idle to go too low. You can go to an auto parts store and use a code reader to get the code from the computer, email back to me and I can let you know what the code indicates.
Good luck.
