Honda Repair: Problems starting & keep it running, octane booster, high octane

Question
Got a 87 Honda Civic from my daughter that had set before she bought it for a couple of years. Ran rough for about 6 months she used high octane in it and finally smoothed out. I got it after she let it set for 2 1/2 months with near empty tank, when it was filled, cheaper gas was put in with HEET. Stalled on me 4x finally got it home and wouldn't restart. Finally brother got it started ran better after driving a few miles got to his house couldn't get it started again. Now new plugs, octane booster (1) and carb cleaner put in, battery cables, posts are all clean. Fuel filter is good, getting gas to the carbuerator all is checked out. Took it for a run after getting it started again and ran rough got home wouldn't start. Let it cool down about an hour started up was running rough but let it run awhile shut it off wouldn't start again. Could all these problems be a bad fuel pump? On very limited budget and can't afford to put a lot of money into this and be wrong. Thanks for your input!!!

Phyllis:
Yes it could be the fuel pump going out, but I would check it before replacing. Also you may want to put new plug wires on.
The octane in the gas should not make a difference, don't waste your money on higher octane if the car is supposed to run on regular.
Good luck.
