Honda Repair: 2000 Honda Civic EX will not start, honda civic ex coupe, honda civic ex

Question
Hello, I am in the army and am stationed in Germany. This morning when I went to go to work my car wouldnt start. The engine doesnt even turn over. I had someone give me a jump and that didnt work either. Still nothing. I was driving it the night before and everything seemed fine. The only weird thing that happened was when I was driving and came to a stop the engine felt like it was shuddering. When I started to take off it was very sluggish, even when I was changing into second gear. Eventually it went away and the car drove just fine. The weather here is  cold especially in the mornings and night. Why is the engine shuddering or acting sluggish, but then fine after it warms up? And even more important, why wont my car start up? Does it have anything to do with the engine shuddering or is it just a bad starter. Most of my friends are saying its the starter. What is your opinion?
Thank you,

SPC. Phil Anderson

ps. It is a 2000 honda civic ex coupe 2 door, no repair history. And I am way overdue for an oil change and regular tune up.

Answer
Phil:
The non-start condition may be caused from a bad starter. Try tapping on the starter housing while someone turns the key. If it starts up, replace the starter. If not, you will need to make sure you have good connections on the battery and to the starter. Once you make sure you have good connections you need to make sure you are getting 12 volts to the starter. Make sure you keep up with your oil changes as the oil becomes sludge it will make it more difficult to start. I'm not sure what the shutter was, but you may want to change the fuel filter, plugs, plug wires, rotor and distributor cap since it is over due.
Hopefully this is helpful.
