Hyundai Repair: Elantra 2002 Power Windows not working, slow blow fuse, power window switch

Question
QUESTION: Couple of weeks ago all the windows stop working.Checked fuses all ok.Changed the Power Window relay-no luck.Still not working.I removed the power window switch from driver's door-it is fine as per scheme from HMA Service. With engine running do I have to get +12v somewhere on the connector to the main Power Window Switch on driver's door? What else could it be the problem? Thanks in advance.

ANSWER: If your exterior lamps were off when you received the 12V at the window switch, then that's evidence that the fuse and relay are in good working order.  (You should have power in the yellow wire whenever the ignition is on).  Presuming the power to the switch is okay, you're left with a possible open circuit in the ground circuit, or a problem within the master switch.

QUESTION: With the ignition ON there is not +12v anywhere on the connector under the Main Switch for the P.Windows on drivers Door(including Yellow wire).Could this be caused by door harness problems.Do I have to remove the driver's side door to get to it or it can be done without removing the door?TIA

Answer
Chances are low (but not nonexistent) that this problem is caused by the known corrosion problem in the door harness connector or a problem within the door harness.

Most likely, the 30A slow blow fuse in the interior fuse box has blown.  It's below the other fuses and has a clear plastic cover on it.  You probably missed it or didn't realize it was a fuse.  Check there first.

If blown, replace it.  But it may blow again when you attempt to operate one or more of the windows.  If that happens, you'll need to try to identify the portion of the circuit in use when the fuse blows.

For additional diagnosis, if necessary, I encourage you to use the resources available at www.hmaservice.com.  You'll need to register for a free account, and the site requires Internet Explorer.  Once you've logged in, go to the Service Information section and click on the ETM (electrical troubleshooting manual) tab.  In the ETM section, you can view the schematics for the power window system.  (If you have keyless entry on your vehicle, it's equipped with ETACS.  This will be helpful in reading the schematic.)
