Hyundai Repair: door light stays on, negative battery cable, harness connector

Have asked this question twice with no answer as of yet. When it rains or I wash my 2002 elantra,4dr.2.0 the drivers door light comes on and the door chime  sounds off along the ignition light staying on.Have to disconnect the negative battery cable for it to stop. After a day or two, after something dries, all is fine. Where do I start looking because something is getting wet. Please put me in the right direction. Thanks Darryl

Hi, Darryl.  I'm not sure why you haven't been receiving the responses.  Here's the answer I gave to the last query:

"I'm guessing you have water leaking into the harness connector going to the driver's door.  Hyundai has an excellent technical service bulletin (TSB) about this issue and how to diagnose and repair it.  

I recommend you look at the TSB at www.hmaservice.com.  You'll need to register for a free account, and the site requires Internet Explorer.  Once you've logged in, go to service information and enter your year and model and look for TSB 06-90-008."
