Hyundai Repair: fuel system problems, comming home, noid light

Question
the other nite comming home from work my car stalls out, I changed my plugs wires and listen for my fuel pump to turn on but it did not so checked fuses, they were fine so pulled off my gas tank and took my pump off and checked it and it was fine, my car turns over but just does not wanna start, I check the coil and things like that, but one thing I do not know would there be any types of relay switches, I changed the MPI relay switch but other than that I don't know why it will not start so if you could help me out that would be great thanx...

Answer
If you still have easy access to the fuel pump, you may want to check to see if you have proper power and ground there when attempting to start the vehicle.  If not, you'll need to examine the fuel pump control circuit, which varies by model and year.

Whenever there's a cranks - no start situation, the first step should be to determine the nature of the problem to reduce the number of things that must be checked.
1.  Does your check engine lamp illuminate for at least a few seconds when you turn the key to the "on" position?
2.  Do you have fuel pressure?
3.  Do you have spark?
4.  Is the cam timing correct?
5.  If you have access to a noid light, do you have injector pulse?

If we do need to diagnose the fuel pump control circuit, I'll need to know the year and model of your vehicle so I can reference the appropriate schematic.  If you'd like to view the service information yourself, you can do so at www.hmaservice.com.  The site requires Internet Explorer, and you'll need to sign up for a free account.
