Metal clanking from front possible passenger wheel in drive that is replaced by loud grind over 20 mph

My first thought is that this may be in your transmission.  Realistically, however, it could be just about anything attached to the drive wheels.  First, make a good inspection of the brakes and axles.  If nothing is amiss, with the front of the vehicle securely supported off the ground, put the vehicle in gear (presuming it's front wheel drive) and inspect to see if you can find the source of the noise.
