Hyundai Repair: hyundai 2001 Santa fe GLS V6, battery cables, battery cable

Question
Procedure for replacing the battery cable? can I replace just the terminal? I been quoted 250$ for a new cable and 2 hrs labor to replace it.

Answer
The positive and negative battery cables come together, so replacing them will require removing the battery and removing the cables to the body, the transmission, the starter, and the alternator.

If the problem is with the terminal end, you can indeed install a new terminal end.  You won't be able to purchase a factory terminal end, but you should be able to purchase a generic one from your local parts store for around $10 or less.  Usually, replacement involves cutting off the old terminal end and bolting the new terminal end onto the cable.
