Hyundai Repair: 2002 Santa Fe issues..., rear disc brakes, fuel vapors

Question
I have a couple of issues that have crept up all of a sudden- so let me start by saying that I have 105000 + miles on my vehicle.
First, when I have stopped to refuel that last 2 times (the tank was almost empty both times) the engine stalls out when I try to leave the gas station. It only does it until I manage to get it into drive and this usually means that I have to rev the engine and put it into drive. Once it gets into drive it does just fine until I have to refuel again.
Have you ever had anyone get the back seat (bottom-half) stuck so that they were not able to put the seat down? I have managed to do this and cannot figure out what it is stuck on.
I am about to have the rear brakes replaced and I am understanding that disc brakes are standard- is that correct? If so, what are good brands/types to replace them with?
Thanks!

Answer
In regard to the stalling issue, it's a pretty sure bet that your purge control valve is stuck open.  When this occurs, fueling your vehicle pushes fuel vapors into your engine causing your engine to be flooded until you've burned off the excess vapors.

I've seen some issues where the pull to release the seat bottom was out of position and stuck under the seat, preventing the seat bottom from being tilted up, but never the other way around.  The only things I can think of are that the seat is jammed against the front seat or that there's something in the mechanism of the rear seat jamming it.

While most Santa Fes had rear disc brakes, some four cylinder models had drum.  Make sure of which brake system you have prior to purchasing replacement pads or shoes.  Bendix (Allied Signal), Raybestos, and Wagner are all well-recognized quality brake brands.  Factory pads and shoes are very good as well.
