Hyundai Repair: 2002 Hyundai Accent not starting, hyundai accent, hyundai

Question
Hi, My hyundai accent is not starting at all, when I am trying to start it, its not even try to do anything. Last time when it runs, I smell a smoke. Let me tell you about week ago someone broke my car and try to steal it, they break the tape and control panel. I am guessing they might have broken the wire for starter or it might get burn? Please advice me what can I do? Thanks.

Answer
I presume the key still operates the ignition.  Obviously, if it doesn't, you'll need to repair your ignition lock.

If there was actually an attempt to steal your car, the ignition switch may have been unplugged.  You should check under the driver's side dash to be sure the switch is plugged in.

It's also possible that the damage done to the wiring drained your battery, or one or more lights were left on, draining your battery.  Your battery rest voltage should be about 12.8V.  When cranking/attempting to crank the engine, it should be no lower than about 10V.
