Hyundai Repair: Check engine light, trouble code, autozone

Question
Hello, my wife owns a 2004 Elantra sedan.  The mileage just turned 96500, and the check engine light just illuminated.  We have not noticed any change in performance, starting, running; everything appears to be just fine, except the annoying light is on.

Should we be concerned?  And, with your knowledge, what, if anything should we replace to get it turned out?

Thank you for your assistance.

Dave

Answer
Something is wrong, but if the lamp is on steady and the vehicle seems to be running normally, there's likely no danger of any significant consequences.

As to what's wrong, I'll need to know the trouble code(s) stored.  You'll need to have someone read the trouble codes for me to provide more assistance.  Some places, such as AutoZone, advertise they'll read the codes for free.  You could try a place like this if you desire, but I wouldn't expect any information you'd receive at one of these places to necessarily be accurate in terms of what's necessary for repair.  If you can tell me the code, I can tell you what things to check and, in many cases, the common failures causing that specific code.
