Land Rover Repair: ABS Brake light/system fault. Discovery 1, rf sensor, absolute answer

Question
On startup and drive, the ABS light remains on. If the car is warm, stop, switch off, restart and drive off the light goes off and the system is fine. Occasionaly will come back on during normal driving. Agent and their computer say r front sensor, replaced, fault persists. They now want to replace all sorts of bits, they have no clue and want to rectify by elimnation. Any advice please?

Answer
How do you know they have no idea?

Often the test system will show a fault, such as RF sensor.  You replace the part, but the fault is still there.  Well, at that point you go to plan B.  Testing the wiring, checking the reluctor ring on the CV joint, etc.

A fault code for RF sensor could indicate one of those situations, and if so, sensor replacement was the normal first step.

If you doubt the competence of the shop try looking at www.rangerovers.net shop list to find an alternate.

The fault codes provided by the LR testers are a guide, not an absolute answer.
