Land Rover Repair: 05 LR3, temp gauge, temperature gauge

Question
Wife said that after picking kids up from school the temperature gauge pegged over to the Hot range. The vehicle slowed down, would not accelerate much. She made it home < 1 & 1/2 miles. Antifreeze reservoir is too the top  and appears to have boiled over. The vehicle will crank but not stay running

Answer
I certainly hope the drive home did not destroy the engine.  These newer cars with aluminum motors are very vulnerable to overheat damage.  When the temp gauge goes up, you must stop immediately.

When you have a pegged temp gauge, and the car won;t stay running after it cools down, the most common cause is internal damage.   I hope for your sake that has not happened but I'd tow it to a qualified service facility and find out.
