Land Rover Repair: 1995 land rover wont start, lbs pressure, main lead

wont start.  i changed the fuel pump  i have 37 lbs pressure.  changed filter.  my doorlock broke about a week before it wouldnt start anymore.  its the driver side.  i have voltage at the injector.   with key on  and when cranking  the voltage goes  up and down from   like  5-8 volts  its too fast to keep up with the reading  i would very much appreaciate your help  this is my sons car and its driving me crazy  we have too much mopney in it to sell it.   we got more in it than its worth.  thank you very much

Hi Bruce,

how about the starter itself?  Crawl under the Disco and carefully check the main lead to the solenoid.  Sometimes this lead wire can be soaked in oil, grit, grime ... and thus not enough 'juice' is being given to solenoid.  I had to clip a section off and replace it on my '95 Disco many years ago.  It made a huge difference.  Had trouble with the starter too...water had worked its way into the starter motor and the main shaft was coated in corrosion.  You may have to remove the starter, open it up and give it a good cleaning.
