Land Rover Repair: 02 Freelander keys dont work anymore, new keys, car lights

Question
I loaned my 02 Freelander to a friend for a day.  She swears nothing unusual happened.  She parked it and left it overnight at her house and now neither of my keys work...It is as if the steering column is locked and I'm putting the wrong key in.  The ignition is in the 0 position, key goes in, and just won't turn.  The "fob" works fine locking and unlocking the car.  lights etc are good. I have spent over two hours jiggling the wheel, the key, and the parking brake while trying to turn the key.  No Luck.  Do you have any idea what this might be???

Answer
It sounds to me like the column lock just chose this moment to break. You can squirt some graphite lock lube in there and jiggle the steering to try and get it free, but the fix is surely a new column lock, which may require new keys too.  If the keys have to be replaced you will need a dealer or shop with access to a T4 IDS or Autologic system to code the security features
