QuestionI have recently purchased a 1998 Freelander XEI S Top, I can fully turn the ignition key and all the dash lights come on but nothing at all from the engine, this can happen 3-4 times then the engine will start, once started I have no problems.
This happens every time i try to start it, is it serious or simple !!!
AnswerIt's certainly possible you have an intermmittent failure of the starter or ignition switch but the most likely answer is that the security system is acting up.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to detect that malfunction without one of the specialized LR test systems - a T4, IDS, or Autologic. A few independt shops have such capability; otherwise it would mean a trip to the dealer.
