Land Rover Repair: Vapour leakage : Discovery 2001, canister purge valve, leak detection

Hello Sir,As per your advise, I checked the code for service engine light. My mechanic said there is some vapor leakage from the pipes going to the fuel pump. He said he kind of know which valve gives trouble. Could please let me know how can I fix the problem by myself

Hi Manu,

it's quite possible that you could do the repair but it depends on which component and how familiar you are with repairing emissions.  If its a evap canister, purge valve or leak detection pump, you could probably do this.  Same goes for the fuel pump itself.

Just remember that the older your Disco is, the more problematic the repair can become - especially around fuel lines and seals.  If your mechanic says he can do it and the charge is reasonable, let him.  You have comfort knowing that a warranty on parts and labour will follow the repair - for at least 30 days.  If you do it yourself and hoses crack or other leaks crop up, you are on your own.
