Land Rover Repair: 1995 range rover se, cam shaft position sensor, shaft position

Question
QUESTION: My lights are blinking on my gear shifter and the dash reads Shift to neutral. So when I do, nothing happens. Now the lights are on all the time and when I put the car into drive it feels like the brake is on and the car is dragging so i stopped driving it. Please Help 1995 range rover SE

ANSWER: Those lights are telling you the transfer case is trying to shift from high to low range.  Put the truck in neutral and move the lever left to right to select high range.  When the lights stop blinking, try driving and see if it has not returned to normal.  If it does not, you have to get the selector motor circuit fixed.

Your owner's manual explains the transfer case operation

QUESTION: Hi, It's taken this long and i still don't have my car. The computer read that I needed A cam shaft position sensor and they put it in and it didnt work. now in out 500$ and no car. Now they want me to but the neutral switch. should i just ask for the selector motor circuit instead? Please help me!

Answer
The cam sensor has nothing whatsoever to do with the "shift to neutral" warning.  If they told you that I suggest you hunt for someone better qualified to fix these vehicles.

My original advice remains the same
